I Love Chicago House: From Vinyl To Virtual & Beyond

Today’s Indy Label Realization
Rachael Cain, The First Lady of Chicago House Music, and President of the legendary label, Trax Records.

The recording industry has been affected drastically in record-breaking time. In several short years, the idea of physical product has become almost obsolete, and Major chain stores for music have all but vanished… How did we go from vinyl to virtual, and what are some of the pros and cons. What happened to record label distribution, and how can you stay ahead of the curve.

Bio: Rachael Cain is known throughout the world as the original Queen of Chicago House Music, and the woman who brought the genre to international prominence with her legendary label Trax Records, that is considered the Motown of its generation. On January 27th 2008’ Rachael received a special “Honorary Chicago Music Award” for her many contributions to her native cities scene.

Ms Cain’s successful career in the music industry spans 20 years of experience, ranging from International touring as an artist and DJ, studio production, distribution, publishing deals, and concert / event promotion. Today her label Phuture Trax, manages Trax Records, and the D.J. International Records catalogues, making it the world’s largest distributor of classic House Music. This year Rachael Cain launched the fashion branding company 1House inc., and released her self produced documentary “The House That Trax Built”. Screamin` Rachael is known far and wide as the "Queen of House Music" and the scene`s most vocal champion. She is credited with recording the first House record ever - 1984`s "Fantasy" (Z-Factor featuring Screamin` Rachael) and is known by everyone in the International House Nation. With new productions by the best in the business, including 2004 Grammy Winner, Maurice Jashua and House heavyweights Joe Smooth and Jere McAllister, this diva will once again be polishing her crown for a the Chicago New Media Summit!
