How's your summer going? Do you have any art exhibitions coming up soon?
Cheers,

No, I wasn't at the launch last night -- were you? I didn't know you were involved with this -- it sounds really interesting!
thanks for the invite.
On Wednesday the Chicago City Council is going to vote on the proposed Promoters Ordinance, which will severely hurt our beloved smaller music venues, independent theatres and musicians. The new 300K insurance requirements, age restrictions, fingerprinting and heavy $500 to $2,000 fees for smaller, non-for profits and independents will cripple the arts community. This ordinance also spills over into block parties and other organized gatherings.
Chicago has a reputation for a strong independent music and theatre scene and this ordinance works in tarnishing our reputation, driving venues out of business and ultimately out of the City.
I am asking Summit members to either write your alderman or add your name to the petition below:
http://savechicagoculture.org/2008/05/09/stop-the-promoters-ordinance/
There are over 11,000 protests on this site alone and Chicago's beloved Jim DeRogatis has the ordinace draft posted on his blog (along with condemnations) at:

Thanks!
