We just posted the video documentary, "Chicago Promoters' Ordinance Kills Independent Music". This is a very pressing issue that involves all in Chicago's creative community and beyond. If you are unaware of some of the issues, please take the time to watch it. Even though the subject matter may seem a bit dry it is actually pretty entertaining/

Hey all!

Check out this page/group if you get the chance. It's about Mayor Daley's proposed "Promoter's Ordinance" which if passed, would impose draconian restrictions and requirements on musicians and local promoters here in Chicago. We should join forces to strengthen the community here:-)

Also, here is a video/documentary that was filmed about it a few months back. It's about 45 minutes long (if I recall) and well worth the watch. This gets down to being about the right to assemble. Anyhoo, without further babbling on....

Yes, thanks so much Cat - that report is exactly why Chicago needs a Sound Convergence! Anyone on the mgmt team, I'd like to be involved but could not make the conference call. Pls. include me in any correspondence outside of this ning network thanks!

Thank you for being on the call and launching an exciting future for Chicago.
In addition, thanks for stepping up to be part of the Management Team of The Chicago Convergence.

I hope it gives you the opportunity to dream big and fulfill those dreams.

Our next action is to have a phone call where we define how we are going to work together.

Troy has been contracted to produce the event and having a added volunteer leadership team (plus a likely-to-grow group of want-to-participate members, artists and musicians) can benefit the production of an explosive event, but needs guidance and accountability.

I am going to talk with Troy, Bruce and Leonard about this and will get back to you ASAP.
