Ryan,
I've spent the last few weeks with Adobe Premier Elements and I like it a lot.
It was fairly easy to learn, I made my first 5 minute clip in about 4 hours.
Next is to get better at using the fades and effects, but this looks like a solid platform that fits my situation.

Klasen: I like Adobe's Master Collection, but you can also get Premiere as a standalone. Your other options include Sony Vegas, Corel's VideoStudio, Avid's software, and maybe some Autodesk software
