TCC Mobile App...my ability to focus on this topic has been hampered by pressing business opportunities and needs...can anyone offer to share this project lead with me...?

Mobile data usage doubles as of January 2009 according to new ComScore numbers

Shockingly, execs of companies that sell ads in apps say, applications are a risk. Throwing money at a problem is generally risky. Planning a complete media response is less so. Applications are only a component, and reducing their cost is key.

Nick, it is about value, so the question is what is "value?" I know what value is for consumer product goods companies and retailers. Another value is what the consumer wants. The trick is getting both in the same experience. Everyone, including myself, is hard at work cracking this nut.

Btw, Nokia still has time to get into smartphones but they will have to soon or become the Zune of cell phones. No pricing flexibility (aka profit margin) in the low/mid range phones.

New numbers point to continued growth for Apple and RIM. Nokia is losing some luster!

“For now, there are not enough people using smartphones to make it worthwhile for advertisers to use highly specific criteria.” Isn’t that an answer to the wrong question? What about value? How do we deliver value for x amount of money?

Hi Mike! I read some data recently, and the Jupiter information may be the article. Remember, most of the mobile coverage is spread across low cost devices. Most of the world is using cheap cells, not iPhones, BlackBerries or G1s. The various forms of the Nokia S60 series account for much of the worlds data usage on mobile. Sales? Not so much.

The article from Mobile Marketer talks about Smartphone penetration rates, App Store success and consumer trends. Frankly the Juniper Research data only claiming 23% annual share by 2013 seems really, really low to me. Does anyone know of any research that talks to the number of handsets that turn-over every year and what phones are being bought as replacements? Does anyone have access to the full Juniper report?

A cool article highlighting Jan Chipcase. Mobile culture is fascinating!
