We produce video cell phone greeting for Mogreet, Inc. Balanced Productions has become an expert in producing 7-11 second video messages that you can send from one cell phone to another or from the internet to a cell phone. It is sent just like a text message, only when the recipient opens it, it plays a video. See www.mogreet.com and in the search box type "niles maxwell" and some of the videos we produce can be found.

Best Regards,

Niles Maxwell, Director

Very cool. Do you offer a subscription or simply pay per greeting?

Hi Evan,
I am very interested in locative work -- using a mobile to attach media files to locations using geotags. Also, I want a mobile with a projector in it.

From what I am told Nokia is already in the stages for a projector within a phone. Helio and Flickr allow you to post pictures of places you have been and tack them to a virtual map for people to see.

When are mobile phones going to begin manipulating the physical environment? When are we going to start seeing universal apps on cell phones that allow me to interface with other products Laptops, TV's etc.

When are we going to see better video content? When will I be able to view streaming video from blog onto my cell phone?

Here is a link to a film I made for Nokia's 3650 phone for a Raindance Film Festival/Nokia Promotion in 2003. This was shot in LA for a Nokia event in Soho in London UK along with works contracted to 4 other filmmakers.

Right now I am doing research for a Nokia WRT Widget for Sofrecom, a division of France Telecom.

I want to enable people to submit text messages to a huge, publicly viewable digital sign installed in a high-visibility area of Chicago. For example, the news scroll on the ABC7 downtown studios. Or maybe on the side of a skyscraper building like the Sears or Hancock building. Times Square in New York has several campaigns like this that use the Sony/Hitachi Jumbotron and other HD projection walls. Unfortunately nothing comparable exists in Chicago.

Another wish is an entire mobile gaming festival similar to Come Out and Play in New York or Picnic in Amsterdam. The midwest is sorely lacking in mobile innovation, especially in out of home environments.

Feel free to call me at 773-596-9612 if you have any thoughts, ideas, or want to partner with me on these types of projects.

We do Text-2-Billboard which allows for these types of things. We also do real time live trivia and have the ability to have your pictures posted on the screen as well. We have gone as far as allowing for changes to the pictures that are posted. For example...if you send the picture in with the word "old" we will make that person look old and post it on the screen.

Do you have any customers or publicly installed work in the Chicago area to check out this technology?

The iPhone Apps Sweepstakes

http://www.technewsworld.com/story/it-management/64675.html?wlc=122...

Though a few iPhone developers have struck it rich in the App Store gold rush, a lot more have seen sales skyrocket early then trail off fast as new offerings climb the iTunes ranks. Some developers are trying new strategies, like adjusting prices and rolling out frequent updates. Others are figuring out ways to gain popularity by giving away apps with built-in advertising for free.

At first, Jon Trainer had visions of retirement. The software developer had created a game that could be played on the Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone and iPod touch devices, and sales were through the roof. Users of the iPhone couldn't get enough of the $7.99 "Bullfrog Touch," which pits a ravenous swampland amphibian against a swarm of invading insects.

After two weeks, reality set in. "People moved on," Trainer says. The number of nifty new software-based games, tools and other pastimes came flooding into the online App Store, elbowing aside early entrants. "As more and more applications got into the store, people weren't delving deeper into the list," Trainer says. The number of applications has surged to more than 4,000, from 800 when the App Store opened on July 10. Even a $3 price cut failed to revive Bullfrog. At this point, "it's not making enough money to be a full-time business," Trainer says, adding that he'll fall back on sales of his Mac desktop application, which keeps track of software licenses and is priced at $20 a pop.

In the latest Silicon Valley gold rush, scores of programmers have raced to perfect and sell their own wares through the App Store, spurred on by stories of overnight riches, including the $250,000 earned by makers of puzzle game "Trism." But as the market gets crowded and prices plummet, many developers like Trainer are resetting growth and demand expectations. "Yes, we have gotten some people rich quick," says developer Erica Sadun. "So does the lottery." The odds of striking gold in the App Store, she jokes, are only slightly better.
